About Rayka Kumru
Work with Rayka
Rayka Kumru is a sexologist, sexuality educator, cultural advisor.
She received a BA in Sociology and Critical Studies in Sexuality from The University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada and holds a Master of Sexology from Curtin University’s School of Public Health in Australia, and Marketing Communication from Istanbul Bilgi University, Turkey. Her sexology masters dissertation was titled “attitudes towards and experiences of contraception use amongst young people in Turkey”. As a former consultant to the Turkish Ministry of Justice’s Reproductive Health Program, Kumru initiated and taught sexual health, gender studies and sexuality education courses at Yıldız Technical University and Istanbul Kultur University.
She was invited to over 15 universities and 7 countries to speak about human sexuality, cultural perceptions on sexuality, gender issues and working with youth and sexuality. Kumru organized World Sexual Health Day in Istanbul, Turkey and worked as one of the coordinators for World Sexual Health Day North America hosted by Stanford University.
Rayka Kumru is a member of the European Federation of Sexology’s Youth Committee, The World Association for Sexual Health, American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists, and the Association for Struggle Against Sexual Violence.

Unhushed offers innovative, comprehensive sexuality education curriculum and works with Rayka to culturally and literally translate their middle school curriculum.
Trainer and Speaker
Soho House is an international membership club that works with Rayka to create and deliver their bi-monthly Lets Talk About Sex series, a sex-positive series of lectures and workshops focusing on adult sexuality .
Technical Adviser and Co-Host
The Guy Channel, one of Turkish Video Network's youtube channels is a lifestyle channel for young men mostly aged 14-25. The channel works with Rayka to create and host their weekly Sex Chat videos.
